Anne Frank

Her smile was infectious
Her eyes were so kind
Her gregariousness was effervescence
She was put to death
Oh my God
For her ethnicity
I am so diminished
I live in a world of people
Some people of pragmatic sensibilities
It is unbelievable to imagine
The horror of this
My vitals are squeezed
I feel anger to violence
But what if there was only anger to violence
I would be that which rivals me
What kind of abstractions rip us from our humanity
How is it possible to breathe
I don't understand the concept of lungs without air
I don't fathom alveoli without purpose
All I see are empty bags without life
Breathing without lungs
Nonexistence
